The Undisputed Male Ruler
Sultan (T-72) is the largest and most dominant male tiger in Ranthambore National Park. With a massive frame, deep battle scars across his face, and a commanding roar that echoes through the forest, Sultan is the undisputed king of Zone 5 and surrounding territory.
Physical Presence
Sultan is one of the biggest tigers ever recorded in Ranthambore. His physical stature is imposing — a muscular body, broad paws, and a thick neck that bears the marks of numerous territorial battles. Rangers estimate his weight to be over 250 kg, making him a truly formidable predator.
Territory & Patrol Routes
Sultan patrols a vast territory that includes:
- Zone 5 (Bakola) — his primary stronghold near the Ranthambore Fort
- Zone 4 border areas — he occasionally challenges younger males here
- Waterhole circuits — his favourite spots for ambush hunting at dawn
Fathering the Next Generation
Sultan has fathered several litters with different tigresses across the park. His genes are widely distributed, and wildlife researchers consider his genetic contribution crucial for maintaining a healthy tiger population in Ranthambore.
“Seeing Sultan emerge from the tall grass at dawn is one of those safari moments you never forget. He commands respect from every creature in the forest.”
