Krishna’s Daughter, Machali’s Granddaughter
Arrowhead (T-84) carries the bloodline of two of Ranthambore’s most iconic tigresses — she is the daughter of Krishna (T-19) and granddaughter of the legendary Machali (T-16). Named after the distinctive arrow-shaped marking on her forehead, Arrowhead has become the current reigning queen of Zones 3 and 4.
Territory & Dominance
Arrowhead commands the most prized territory in Ranthambore — the area around Rajbagh Talao and Padam Talao lakes, the same terrain her grandmother Machali once ruled. She is frequently seen near:
- Rajbagh Talao — where she crosses the lake with athletic ease
- Padam Talao — her favourite resting spot near the lotus-filled waters
- Jogi Mahal — often spotted walking along the historic rest house
Hunting Style
What sets Arrowhead apart from other tigers is her extraordinary boldness. She is known for making kills within metres of tourist vehicles, showing zero fear or hesitation. Wildlife photographers from around the world travel specifically to capture her dramatic lake crossings and hunts.
She is also an exceptional swimmer. On multiple occasions, she has been filmed swimming across the full breadth of Rajbagh Talao — a spectacle that leaves tourists in awe.
Motherhood
Arrowhead has successfully raised multiple litters, ensuring Machali’s legendary bloodline continues to thrive in Ranthambore. Her cubs are frequently spotted learning to hunt under her watchful guidance.
“Arrowhead is the tiger you come to Ranthambore hoping to see. If you’re in Zone 3, there’s a very good chance she’ll make your day.”
